Cornell University NetID and .edu Email Address Eligibility

Am I eligible for a NetID or .edu email address from Cornell University?

NetIDs are reserved for students matriculated into a degree program at Cornell University as well as Cornell University faculty and staff. As such, eCornell students are not provided an .edu email address. For eCornell coursework, students should use their personal or professional email as the means of communication within their courses and also as their Username for login credentials.

Can I use Cornell library resources or subscriptions?
Unfortunately, since Cornell resources and subscriptions require a NetID, these are not available to eCornell students.
Technology Discounts (Not Available for eCornell students)
eCornell students do not receive access to discounted or complimentary Microsoft Office applications, hardware, or other device offers through Cornell University. These benefits are reserved for students enrolled in degree-granting programs at Cornell.

eCornell learners are welcome to use any personal Microsoft, Google, or open-source applications that meet the technical requirements for their courses. Please see this article for alternatives.
