eCornell Code of Conduct and Academic Integrity

As members of the Cornell University community, our program attendees, course facilitators, and eCornell team members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes an inclusive and rewarding learning experience. With this in mind, we ask that all community members engage with each other and coursework with integrity and civility.

It is the shared responsibility of all eCornell community members to ensure our learning environment meets these expectations:

  • Be a respectful member of the course and support everyone’s ability to access course materials and interact with each other and with the facilitator.
  • Maintain the privacy of my coursemates and facilitator and not allow anyone outside of the course to participate in any activity that is associated with the course.
  • Honor the intellectual property rights of faculty, facilitators, and coursemates and not record or make course materials accessible to anyone who is not enrolled in the course without eCornell’s written permission.
  • Follow the rules about online and in-person collaboration, discussion, and sharing that the facilitator specifies.
  • Engage in my coursework with honesty and individual effort. eCornell facilitators and staff uphold this expectation. Plagiarism and misrepresentation of one’s work will not be tolerated per eCornell’s plagiarism policy (found here).
  • Interact with my coursemates, course facilitators, and eCornell staff with mutual respect to cultivate a constructive shared learning environment. Words and actions that degrade trust in one another’s good intentions are damaging to this core value.

This guidance is based on Cornell University’s Commitment to Academic Integrity, Equitable Instruction, Trust, and Respect.
