Adding An Image to a Discussion Post
How do I insert an image within a discussion post or in my ePortfolio?
Canvas has several methods to insert images. Four options are outlined below.
To submit a picture from a URL:
- Click on the reply box. A toolbar will become visible at the top of the input box.
- Click on the scenery icon to supply a URL photo.
- Click Update. The image will appear in your Discussion Post or ePortfolio at the location of your mouse pointer.
To insert a picture directly into the reply box:
Click into the reply box. This toolbar will become visible at the top of the input box.
- Select HTML Editor at the top right of your screen.
- Include the image "tag" or image address (found online) in the reply box. The image tag can be selected by right-clicking on the image and selecting Copy Image URL.
To add from another application. For example, Word:
If adding a chart made from a Word document, copy and paste the image into the Reply area for the required discussion. Then add your text if you haven't done so already.
To store an image file before inserting in to your discussion:
While logged into your course, select Account from the top right of the screen. Click Files. Then select the folder in which you wish to save the image.
Click the red Upload button. Navigate to the desired image located on your device's storage drive and select it for upload.
After saving the image(s) in your account, return to your course discussion and click into the Reply box; a toolbar will become visible at the top of the input box. Select the image icon (first arrow shown below). Click User Images. Then locate and select the name of the image file(s) you wish to use. The image will then appear in your Discussion Post. Click the red Reply button once you have finished editing your discussion post to submit your post.
