Schedule Customization and Course Pacing

How many courses can I take at the same time?

Due to the amount of course material and the time needed to complete assignments, eCornell recommends starting your learning experience one course at a time. This will help you determine an appropriate course load for the future.

Many of our programs do not have a required order to the courses. However, you should always read the program details (if you have not yet enrolled), or your enrollment confirmation/course detail notifications (if you are a current student). Should you need to make changes to your schedule, you can do so by following the steps in this article.

Students are able to create a custom schedule by using the instructions linked above. However, it is the responsibility of each student to ensure they complete all required coursework within the course window, or transfer out of their courses within the allotted time. If a course is not completed prior to the scheduled end date, the course will be marked incomplete and will require a retake, which may incur a fee.

How long are the eCornell courses?
Most eCornell courses have a two-week instructional period during which course requirements must be completed. There are a few exceptions to this, but a large majority of courses are two weeks. Courses start on Wednesdays and end on Tuesdays. If you are uncertain when a course will end, refer to the initial welcome announcement you received at the beginning of the course, or visit your portal home page and click on your course to view the full details.

Note that all required assignments must be completed within the instructional period, and must be submitted before the course end. Courses end on Tuesdays at 11:59pm ET regardless of the student's time zone.
