Clearing Your Browser's Cache

How do I clear my cache?

In an effort to load pages faster, our web browsers save temporary internet files or "cache," so that the next time you access that site, you don't have to wait as long for it to load. It's a time-saver in many cases, but it can also store error messages.

For example, if you encountered an error message at our site (e.g. you used the wrong password), and are trying again with the right password, your computer may show you the "Validation Error" or "Invalid Credentials" error message that's saved in the cache, even if the password is now correct! A cache error could also occur during registration (for example, if you were entering the wrong group code), or if you tried to enter your course a few minutes before it started.

The easiest way to fix this is to clear your brower's cache. Please follow the links below for directions.

  1. Google Chrome (Chromebook users, click the 'Android' tab)
  2. Mozilla Firefox
  3. Apple Safari
  4. Microsoft Edge

Alternatively, go to http://yourbrowser.is/clear-browser-cache/ - this site will detect your browser and display a short video tutorial on how to clear the cache.

Similar information may be found by viewing the Refresh Your Cache website for links to clear cache in all browsers.

Once You Have Cleared Your Cache

  • Close the browser tab you are using.
  • Open a new tab.
  • Try the last action once again.
Be sure to always use the latest version of your browser. If you have a pending update, update your browser either before or after clearing your cache.
